The Dutch Grand Prix was shaped immediately by rain after the start, splitting strategies. Pérez pitted early for intermediates and briefly led, but Verstappen stopped one lap later, reset his strategy and undercut his teammate back into the lead. The middle phase dried and the timing of the switch back to slicks became important. Heavy rain returned late in the race, and Zhou's crash brought out a red flag. After the restart Verstappen held off Alonso and kept control. Verstappen won his home race for the third straight year and equalled Sebastian Vettel's record of nine consecutive wins. Alonso finished second, and Gasly was promoted to third after Pérez received a penalty.
