Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team

Overview

Mercedes is both a historic Grand Prix name and one of the most powerful modern Formula 1 teams. The brand raced in the pre-war Silver Arrows era and returned to the World Championship in the 1950s with Juan Manuel Fangio. After decades away as a works constructor, Mercedes came back in 2010 by taking over the Brawn GP team, rebuilding a famous name for the modern era. Mercedes became the dominant team of the hybrid era from 2014 onward. With Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg, Toto Wolff and a deep technical structure, it won an unprecedented run of Constructors’ Championships. Its power unit, operational discipline and car development set new standards, while the Hamilton-Rosberg rivalry and Hamilton’s record-equalling title run became central stories of modern F1. By 2026, Mercedes is trying to define its next chapter after the end of its most dominant period. The team remains one of F1’s major forces because of its resources, technical depth and championship culture. Its history links Fangio’s 1950s success, Brawn GP’s miracle season and the hybrid-era dynasty into one of the sport’s most important manufacturer stories.
