Carlos Sainz was born in Madrid, Spain, in 1994, into one of motorsport’s best-known families. His father, Carlos Sainz Sr., became a World Rally Champion, but Sainz built his own path through karting and the Red Bull junior programme. After strong results in Formula Renault 3.5, he made his Formula 1 debut with Toro Rosso in 2015 alongside Max Verstappen. Across Toro Rosso, Renault, McLaren and Ferrari, Sainz earned a reputation for calm race management, technical feedback and consistent points finishes. His first F1 win came at the 2022 British Grand Prix, and his 2023 Singapore victory ended Red Bull’s long winning streak. Rather than relying on flash, he has often stood out through precision, patience and smart strategic thinking. By 2026, Sainz is taking on a new challenge with Williams, bringing race-winning experience to a team trying to rebuild its place near the front. His adaptability across very different teams has become one of his strongest qualities. He remains one of the most complete drivers of his generation, valued for both speed and judgement.
