Yuki Tsunoda
Yuki Tsunoda was born in Sagamihara, Japan, in 2000 and developed through karting before entering Honda’s junior programme. His speed in Japanese Formula 4 earned him a move to Europe, where he quickly adapted to Formula 3 and then Formula 2. A strong 2020 F2 season, featuring wins and aggressive race craft, brought him into Formula 1 with AlphaTauri in 2021. Tsunoda’s early F1 years mixed raw speed with mistakes, but he steadily matured into a more complete driver. Known for sharp braking, emotional radio messages and a combative style, he became an important figure for the Red Bull sister team through its AlphaTauri, RB and later identities. His progress was followed closely in Japan, especially because of Honda’s continuing influence in F1. By 2026, Tsunoda remains one of Japan’s most important modern F1 drivers. His career has been defined by visible growth: from an explosive rookie to a more measured and dependable racer. Whether fighting for points or trying to earn a larger opportunity, he carries the expectations of Japanese fans and the proof that persistence can reshape a driver’s reputation.
