Kevin Magnussen
Kevin Magnussen was born in Roskilde, Denmark, in 1992, the son of former Formula 1 driver Jan Magnussen. He developed through karting and junior single-seaters before winning the Formula Renault 3.5 title and becoming part of McLaren’s driver programme. Magnussen made his Formula 1 debut with McLaren in 2014 and immediately finished on the podium at the Australian Grand Prix. After McLaren, Magnussen raced for Renault and then became strongly associated with Haas. His driving style was aggressive, especially in wheel-to-wheel defence, which made him a divisive but hard-to-ignore competitor. In 2022, he returned to Haas at short notice and scored points in the opening race, later taking the team’s first pole position at the Brazilian Grand Prix sprint weekend. Magnussen’s Formula 1 career has included sudden exits, comebacks and moments that exceeded the machinery available to him. He also maintained links with endurance racing, reflecting the wider racing background of the Magnussen family. He never became a Grand Prix winner, but his toughness, direct style and key Haas milestones make him one of Denmark’s most significant modern F1 drivers.
