Lewis Hamilton

Overview

Lewis Hamilton was born in Stevenage, England, in 1985 and began karting as a child with strong support from his father, Anthony. His talent was clear early, and he became part of the McLaren and Mercedes junior structure while still young. Titles in Formula Renault, Formula 3 and GP2 led to a Formula 1 debut with McLaren in 2007, where he immediately challenged for the championship as a rookie. Hamilton won his first world title in 2008, then moved to Mercedes in 2013 and became the central figure of the hybrid era. His combination of qualifying speed, tyre management, wet-weather ability and relentless consistency helped him equal Michael Schumacher’s record of seven world championships. He also became F1’s record holder for wins and pole positions, reshaping the sport’s modern history. By 2026, Hamilton is racing for Ferrari, adding one of the sport’s most famous chapters to an already historic career. Beyond results, he has influenced Formula 1 through activism, fashion, diversity work and a global fan base. He is not only one of the most successful drivers in history, but one of the most culturally significant figures the sport has produced.
