Alexander Albon

Overview

Alexander Albon was born in London in 1996 to a British father and a Thai mother, and races under the Thai flag. He grew up in a strong karting generation alongside future Formula 1 names such as George Russell and Charles Leclerc. His junior career included difficult moments, but his recovery and results in Formula 2 earned him a late route into F1 with Toro Rosso in 2019. Albon was promoted to Red Bull during his rookie season, a huge opportunity but also one of the toughest seats in Formula 1. He scored podiums but struggled under constant comparison with Max Verstappen and lost his full-time seat for 2021. After a year involving DTM and reserve duties, he returned with Williams in 2022 and rebuilt his reputation through determined, intelligent drives. By 2026, Albon remains central to Williams’ recovery project. His tyre management, defensive skill and calm feedback have made him especially valuable for a team fighting its way back through the midfield. His career has become a story of resilience: he was pushed out of the spotlight, found a way back, and proved again that he belongs in Formula 1.
