The Italian Grand Prix began with polesitter Sainz holding the lead and defending from Verstappen in the opening phase. Verstappen applied pressure for several laps and took the lead after Sainz locked up. From there Red Bull controlled the race, and Pérez later passed the Ferrari drivers to move into second. Sainz and Leclerc fought intensely for the final podium place in the closing laps, with Sainz holding on to third. Verstappen won and set a new Formula One record with ten consecutive victories. Pérez finished second and Sainz completed the podium for Ferrari at home.
