The Azerbaijan Grand Prix began with polesitter Leclerc holding the lead, before Verstappen used DRS to pass him. In the middle phase Verstappen pitted just before the safety car caused by De Vries stopping on track, which gave Pérez a major strategic advantage and moved him into the lead. After the restart Pérez held off Verstappen and managed the pace cleanly. Leclerc could not match the Red Bulls but delivered Ferrari's first podium of the season. Late on, Russell switched to soft tyres and claimed fastest lap. Pérez won, Verstappen finished second and Leclerc third, while Yuki Tsunoda scored a point in tenth.
