The Singapore Grand Prix began with polesitter Sainz holding the lead, while Leclerc moved into second to give Ferrari early control. In the middle phase Logan Sargeant's contact with the wall brought out the safety car and triggered pit stops. Later, Ocon stopped and caused a virtual safety car, allowing the Mercedes drivers to switch to new medium tyres and chase aggressively. Sainz managed the pace cleverly, keeping Norris within DRS so that Russell and Hamilton could not easily pass. In the final laps Russell hit the wall while chasing and retired. Sainz won, ending Red Bull's winning streak. Norris finished second, Hamilton third, and Lawson scored his first Formula One points in ninth.
