The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix began with drama before the start, as Pierre Gasly retired on the formation lap with gearbox trouble. Verstappen held the lead after the start and controlled the opening phase. On lap seven, Lance Stroll crashed at turn 23, bringing out the safety car. In the middle phase Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton stayed out on an alternative strategy, while Kevin Magnussen accumulated penalties but drove defensively to help Haas teammate Nico Hülkenberg score. Verstappen remained in control after the restart and marked his 100th podium with victory. Pérez finished second, Leclerc third with fastest lap, and Ferrari substitute Oliver Bearman scored points on debut in seventh.
