The Singapore Grand Prix began with polesitter Russell making a clean start and holding off Verstappen, who had chosen soft tyres in an attempt to attack into turn 1. In the opening lap Norris went deep into turn 3, making contact with Verstappen's rear and with teammate Piastri while gaining places. Through the middle phase Russell controlled the pace, while Piastri and Alonso both lost time with slow pit stops. Unusually for Singapore, the race had no retirements, and Russell never allowed Verstappen a real chance in the closing laps. Russell won ahead of Verstappen and Norris. McLaren's third and fourth places secured the team's second consecutive and tenth overall Constructors' Championship.
