The United States Grand Prix began with polesitter Verstappen making a clean start and holding the lead. Norris, starting second, was passed around the outside of turn 1 by Leclerc, who had chosen soft tyres. Further back, Bortoleto and Albon collided, and a later incident involving Sainz and Antonelli brought out the virtual safety car. In the middle phase Norris passed Leclerc on lap 21, but Ferrari's undercut put Leclerc back ahead after the pit stops. Norris attacked repeatedly in the final stint and eventually reclaimed second. Verstappen controlled the race throughout and took his fourth Austin victory, with Norris second and Leclerc third.
