Lance Stroll was born in Montreal, Canada, in 1998 and came through karting before joining Ferrari’s young driver programme. Backed by significant family support but also by real junior success, he won the Italian F4, Toyota Racing Series and European Formula 3 titles. He made his Formula 1 debut with Williams in 2017, becoming one of the youngest drivers on the grid. Stroll’s F1 career has included both criticism and notable peaks. He scored a podium as a rookie in Baku, took pole position in Turkey in 2020, and added further podiums with Racing Point. His move into the Aston Martin project placed him at the centre of a team owned by his father, Lawrence Stroll, which has made scrutiny unavoidable. Even so, he has shown strength in wet conditions and chaotic races. By 2026, Stroll remains part of Aston Martin’s long-term Formula 1 story. His career is often debated because of the privilege behind his route, but it also includes results that cannot simply be dismissed. He is a driver whose reputation sits between expectation, criticism and moments of genuine performance, making him one of the more complex figures on the modern grid.
