Race results

The Bahrain Grand Prix began with polesitter Verstappen holding the lead and controlling the race from the opening laps. Pérez moved into second and Red Bull quickly established a one-two formation. In the middle phase Leclerc stopped with a power-unit problem, removing Ferrari from the podium fight. Alonso then passed Russell, Hamilton and Sainz in sequence, showing strong race pace in his first Grand Prix for Aston Martin. Verstappen stayed comfortably in control to win the season opener, Pérez finished second and Alonso completed the podium. The 2023 season therefore began with a clear Red Bull advantage.
