The Mexico City Grand Prix began with polesitter Sainz trying to hold the lead, but Verstappen moved ahead into turn 1. Early contact between Yuki Tsunoda and Alexander Albon brought out the safety car, and after the restart Sainz repassed Verstappen to reclaim first place. Verstappen later received two 10-second penalties for incidents while fighting Norris, dropping him down the order. Through the middle phase Sainz built a stable lead, while Leclerc ran second. In the closing stages Norris caught and passed Leclerc for second. Sainz delivered a strong victory in his final Ferrari season, Norris finished second and Leclerc third, with Leclerc also taking fastest lap.
