Race results

The Monaco Grand Prix began quietly, with polesitter Verstappen holding the lead and Alonso following in second. Most drivers extended their dry-tyre stints into the middle phase, but rain late in the race made tyre choice decisive. Alonso first changed to mediums just as the rain intensified, forcing another stop for intermediates and costing him a chance to attack. Verstappen had a few brushes with the walls but switched to wet-weather tyres at the right moment and kept control. Ocon drove cleanly to hold third and give Alpine a podium. Verstappen won ahead of Alonso and Ocon, in a race shaped by the timing of the rain response.
