Nico Rosberg
Nico Rosberg was born in Wiesbaden, Germany, in 1985 and grew up in a racing family as the son of 1982 World Champion Keke Rosberg. Raised between cultures and languages, he built his own career through karting and junior racing before winning the first GP2 Series title in 2005. He made his Formula 1 debut with Williams in 2006 and quickly earned a reputation for intelligence and technical detail. Rosberg joined Mercedes in 2010, initially alongside Michael Schumacher, and helped prepare the team for its later dominance. When Lewis Hamilton arrived, their long friendship turned into one of F1’s most intense rivalries. Rosberg won the 2016 World Championship after a season of relentless pressure, consistency and mental focus, defeating Hamilton in the same team. Only days after winning the title, Rosberg retired from Formula 1, choosing to leave at the peak of his career. Since then he has worked as a broadcaster, investor and sustainability-focused entrepreneur. His legacy is unusual: he was not a long-reigning champion, but a driver who reached his single greatest goal, beat one of the sport’s best, and walked away on his own terms.
