Renault
Renault DP World F1 Team
Renault has been one of Formula 1’s most important manufacturer names, both as a works team and as an engine supplier. In the late 1970s it brought turbocharging into F1 as a serious concept, struggling at first with reliability but eventually changing the direction of the sport. As an engine partner, Renault later powered major successes for Williams, Benetton and Red Bull. The works team’s greatest period came in 2005 and 2006, when Fernando Alonso won back-to-back Drivers’ Championships and Renault also took the Constructors’ title. Under Flavio Briatore’s management, the team combined strong chassis design, Michelin tyres and sharp race execution to end the long dominance of Ferrari and Michael Schumacher. Those titles remain central to Renault’s F1 identity. The Enstone-based team later passed through Lotus branding, returned as Renault and now continues as Alpine. The name has changed, but the lineage remains important. Renault’s legacy includes the turbo revolution, championship-winning engines, works-team titles and a continuing French manufacturer presence in Formula 1 through Alpine.
