Felipe Massa
Felipe Massa was born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1981 and rose through karting and junior categories before reaching Formula 1 with Sauber in 2002. Quick, emotional and highly committed, he developed under Ferrari’s attention and later joined the team as a full-time driver in 2006. His early career mixed raw speed with mistakes, but he matured into a front-running contender. At Ferrari, Massa became a race winner and title challenger, peaking in 2008 when he fought Lewis Hamilton for the World Championship until the final corner of the final race in Brazil. He won that Grand Prix but lost the title by a single point, creating one of F1’s most dramatic championship endings. A serious accident in Hungary in 2009 interrupted his career, yet he returned and continued to race at a high level. After Ferrari, Massa joined Williams and helped the team return to regular podium contention during the hybrid era’s early years. Since leaving F1, he has raced in other categories and remained involved in motorsport. His legacy combines heartbreak, resilience and loyalty: a driver who came painfully close to the title and remained deeply loved in Brazil and at Ferrari.
