Olivier Panis

Overview

Olivier Panis is a French driver whose early-2000s career included BAR and Toyota. A surprise winner of the 1996 Monaco Grand Prix, he brought veteran experience after valuable testing work with McLaren. At BAR he showed steadiness and development ability, then joined Toyota in 2003 to help the new manufacturer team grow. He did not add another victory, but his technical feedback and professional approach were highly valued. Panis was a craftsman-like driver whose contribution was especially important to teams trying to establish themselves in the manufacturer-dominated era of the early 2000s.
