BAR

BAR entered Formula 1 as British American Racing and became an important Honda-linked team in the early 2000s. With Jacques Villeneuve, Jenson Button and Takuma Sato among its drivers, it moved from ambitious newcomer to serious contender. The high point was 2004, when Button scored repeated podiums, Sato added a podium at Indianapolis, and BAR finished second in the constructors’ championship. 2005 brought controversy and weaker results, but the organisation formed the foundation for Honda’s works team and eventually Brawn. BAR was a key transitional team of the decade.
