Keke Rosberg

Keke Rosberg was born in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1948 and raced under the Finnish flag. His route to Formula 1 was difficult, moving through junior categories and smaller teams before earning a proper chance at the front. Known for commitment, bravery and car control, Rosberg represented a rugged generation of drivers who often had to force their way into competitive machinery. Rosberg won the 1982 World Championship with Williams in a season marked by tragedy, inconsistency and changing competitive balance. He won only one race that year, but his aggression and consistency carried him through a chaotic campaign. Later he added more victories and became known for spectacular qualifying laps and a fearless approach, especially in powerful turbo-era cars. After retiring, Rosberg managed drivers and supported the career of his son Nico, who became World Champion in 2016. Keke’s own title is sometimes debated because of the unusual 1982 season, but that misses the skill required to survive and succeed in it. He remains one of Finland’s most important F1 figures and a bridge between eras.
