Daniil Kvyat

Overview

Daniil Kvyat was born in Ufa, Russia, in 1994 and emerged through karting before joining the Red Bull junior programme. He won the GP3 title and made his Formula 1 debut with Toro Rosso in 2014. His speed and rapid progress earned him promotion to Red Bull Racing for 2015, making him one of the most prominent young drivers in the Red Bull system. At Red Bull, Kvyat scored a podium at the 2015 Hungarian Grand Prix and finished the season ahead of team-mate Daniel Ricciardo in the standings. However, a difficult start to 2016 and high-profile incidents led to his demotion back to Toro Rosso, with Max Verstappen taking his Red Bull seat. Kvyat later rebuilt parts of his career and scored another podium for Toro Rosso at the chaotic 2019 German Grand Prix. After his main Formula 1 career, Kvyat remained active through reserve roles and racing in other categories, including endurance competition. His story reflects both the opportunity and pressure of the Red Bull driver pathway. He reached a top team very young, lost that seat quickly, but still produced memorable podiums and showed enough speed to remain a notable figure of 2010s F1.
