Ralf Schumacher

Overview

Ralf Schumacher is a German driver who was a key Williams-BMW figure in the early 2000s. Although often viewed through the lens of being Michael Schumacher’s younger brother, he was a Grand Prix winner in his own right. He took his first victory in 2001 and formed a powerful, sometimes tense partnership with Juan Pablo Montoya. Ralf had strong speed, especially on fast circuits, but injuries and team fluctuations affected his momentum. From 2005 he joined Toyota and scored podiums there. He was an important front-running driver of the decade, even if overshadowed by his brother’s dominance.
