Super Aguri
Super Aguri F1 Team
Overview
Super Aguri raced from 2006 to 2008 as a strongly Japanese Formula 1 team built around Takuma Sato and Honda support. It was assembled in a hurry and struggled badly at first, but improved significantly in 2007. Sato’s sixth place in Canada, including a famous pass on Fernando Alonso, became the team’s defining moment. Financial problems eventually became impossible to overcome, and Super Aguri withdrew during the 2008 season. Though short-lived, it was admired for passion, determination and its unique place in Japanese F1 history.
