Caterham

Caterham evolved from Team Lotus and raced from 2012 to 2014 as a small independent team. Tony Fernandes’ project aimed to move into the midfield, but limited resources and development capacity kept it away from points. Drivers included Heikki Kovalainen, Vitaly Petrov, Charles Pic, Kamui Kobayashi and Marcus Ericsson. By 2014 the team faced severe financial trouble, missed races, and returned for the Abu Dhabi finale through emergency support. Caterham became a symbol of how difficult it was for new teams to survive in 2010s Formula 1.
