Shinji Nakano

Shinji Nakano was born in Takatsuki, Japan, in 1971 and developed through karting, Japanese racing and international junior categories. After experience in Japanese Formula 3000 and International Formula 3000, he made his Formula 1 debut with Prost in 1997. As a Japanese driver in a European team, he faced a demanding environment but scored points and showed a calm, professional approach. Nakano moved to Minardi in 1998, where the machinery made results difficult. His Formula 1 career lasted two seasons, but his wider racing life continued across many categories. He competed in CART, IndyCar-related events and endurance racing, including Le Mans, building a career that extended far beyond his short F1 spell and gave him broad international experience. After retiring from top-level driving, Nakano remained active through commentary, driver support and motorsport promotion.
