Franck Montagny

Franck Montagny is a French driver who was highly regarded as a Renault test driver before racing for Super Aguri in 2006. He replaced Yuji Ide at short notice and drove for a new team that was still underprepared and uncompetitive. Results were not realistic, but Montagny brought experience, stability and technical understanding to a difficult situation. His Formula 1 race career was short, yet he had a broader record in testing and endurance racing. He remains associated with Super Aguri’s early survival phase and with the important role experienced substitutes can play.
