Cristiano da Matta

Cristiano da Matta is a Brazilian driver who entered Formula 1 with Toyota in 2003 after winning the CART championship. He arrived with a strong North American reputation, but adapting to F1 tyres, aerodynamics and team culture proved difficult in a Toyota project still finding its way. He showed professionalism and experience, yet consistent front-running results were out of reach and he lost his seat during 2004.
