Patrick Friesacher
Overview
Patrick Friesacher is an Austrian driver who raced for Minardi in 2005. The team was normally confined to the back of the grid, but at the controversial United States Grand Prix, where most Michelin runners withdrew, he finished sixth and scored valuable points. Funding issues caused him to lose his seat mid-season, making his Formula 1 career short. Even so, he remains one of the drivers who scored for Minardi in its final season. Friesacher’s story reflects both the opportunities and harsh financial realities faced by young drivers in small 2000s teams.
